Include Elizabeth May in the 2015 Leaders' Debates!

Leaders' debates that exclude Elizabeth are missing an important voice for democracy. Over 80% of Canadians in a recent EKOS poll said they want Elizabeth included. Add your voice to protest!

Canadians want and deserve to hear the Green Party Leader Elizabeth challenge the other federal leaders in the Globe and Mail, Munk, and TVA debates, too.  Globe and Mail and Munk Debates need to hear from Canadians that Elizabeth is needed. Sign our petition below, sign the Green Party of Canada petition too, and write or email:

Adding insult to injury, Mulcair's refusal to participate in the televised National Broadcasters’ debates is a clear attempt to shut Elizabeth May out. These are the debates that will be seen by at least 14 million Canadians from coast to coast to coast. Change.org has a petition to sign asking all leaders to participate.

"Democracy is worth fighting for" (Elizabeth May, Green Party Leader).

Elizabeth May is the leader of a federal party and a sitting MP!

Elizabeth May will add more thoughtful discourse to any debate than any other participant. Debate is pointless without her.

I can’t believe we have to fight for this – what are we? The U.S.? Some other dictator-run country? Geez – good luck!

Elizabeth May will keep the debate on cogent issues and cut through the spin offered by the other party candidates. Her presence is essential to the dissemination of the information that is necessary for the electorate to make informed decisions.

The organizers’ rationale was flawed. They should have included all national parties, represented by their respective leaders.

This petition would be much more effective if the message was clear. At first glance the text above appears to suggest that the petition is aimed at persuading Stephen Harper to join the traditional debates. Show the text of the petition to remove any confusion!

Yes – Elizabeth May should be included in the debates. The only reason she isn’t is that her opponents are afraid of her as she clearly won the last leaders debate she participated in.

Excluding Elizabeth May from the debates is undemocratic.

How can the Globe argue to include EM in 2011 and exclude her in 2015? Other than her numerous awards (Best debater, Best MP, and so on) and the extra Green representation at Ottawa, nothing has changed!

Perhaps those who oppose facing her need to be aware that by excluding Elizabeth May they may be seen as being afraid to face her in a public forum, where they can’t control her!
